The bandits reportedly drove into the bank premises in an unmarked Toyota Hummer Bus around 4.00pm. They shot sporadically into the air; causing people to run for safety.

The robbers, numbering about 18, were said to have gained entry into the banking hall after using dynamites to break the security doors.

After holding staff and customers of the bank on hostage for about an hour, they eventually made away with millions of naira.

Those injured during the incident were taken to Itori General Hospital in an ambulance belonging to a cement firm in the area, sources said.

The states Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi,
said deatils about the incident were still scanty.

“I also heard that a gang of armed robbers launched an attack on a bank in Ewekoro,” he said. “I have been making frantic efforts to get the details of what really happened.”
