“NEMA rescue team alerted to explosion at military formations in Kaduna,” the agency’s spokesperson, Yushau Shuaib, said in a statement international news agency, AFP. “Yet to confirm the nature of explosion or casualty. Relevant security working to contain the situation.” Aminu Lawan, police spokesman in Kaduna, also confirmed the blasts.
Officials of NEMA and Red Cross have already arrived on the scene and reports indicate that the affected areas has now been cordoned off – and the streets now have a heavy police and military presence – including the anti-bomb squad.
No organisation has taken responsibility yet for the blasts, which follow yesterday’s Kano explosions, claimed by the Boko Haram sect.
