‘Waiting to Exhale’ starring the late legendary Whitney Houston is probably one of the best-loved African-American movies of all time. The soundtrack for the movie, ‘Exhale (Shoop Shoop)’ was the third song ever in Billboard history to debut at the top of its Hot 100 chart. Written and produced by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, the song showcased Whitney’s softer side, as she constrained her sound to deliver a mellow, smooth vocal that was delightfully simple yet complex at the same time.
Whitney Houston passed away from an accidental drug overdose on February 11, 2012, and was laid to rest 10 days later.
Robin Thicke released this beautiful remake in tribute to the iconic singer on May 31, 2012.
