Prince Harry faces £9.54m legal bill after losing mail privacy case

Prince Harry and six other public figures have been ordered to make an initial £9.54m payment to the publisher of the Daily Mail after losing their High Court privacy case. They must pay the amount by August 28.
The group, which includes Sir Elton John, Liz Hurley and David Furnish, sued Associated Newspapers over alleged unlawful information-gathering. However, Justice Nicklin dismissed their claims on July 7, ruling that they had failed to prove the allegations.
The claimants could eventually face up to £34.5m in legal costs. They have until October 2 to seek permission to appeal the judgment, while the judge said the final bill was unlikely to reach the full amount claimed by the publisher.
Nigerian-American Victoria Oluwakotanmi crowned Miss Grand USA 2026

Nigerian-American beauty queen Victoria Oluwakotanmi has been crowned Miss Grand USA 2026 after the title was withdrawn from the original winner, Mekayla Li. Oluwakotanmi was the first runner-up at the August 10 pageant.
The Miss Grand USA organisation announced her appointment on Friday, saying she would take over the title and represent the United States at the Miss Grand International competition. The organisation also welcomed her to her new role.
Li’s reign was terminated days after her victory following revelations about an alleged 2024 hit-and-run incident and a previous marriage. The organisation said her removal was based on its contractual policies and urged the public to avoid bullying, harassment, defamation and personal attacks.
Tony Elumelu corrects woman for calling him by his first name

Billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu has corrected a woman who addressed him by his first name during a public gathering. The exchange, captured in a viral video, has sparked debate about respect, age, and changing social norms in Nigeria.
The woman began her question with, “Good morning, Tony,” prompting Elumelu to stop her. He told her to address him as “Mr Elumelu” or “T.O.E.,” saying he did not subscribe to what he described as “oyinbo life.”
The woman then corrected herself before continuing with her question. The incident has divided opinions online, with some Nigerians calling her approach disrespectful, while others said using first names is increasingly common in professional and international settings.
Ayra Starr and Tems deliver an unforgettable performance at the All Points East

Tems stole the night when she brought out UK rapper Dave to perform “Raindance” while she whined her waist to one of her songs, giving her fans a side of her that’s rarely seen whenever she’s on stage.
Ayra Starr also performed songs from her week-old album “Starrgirl,” inviting Kwn on stage to sing their song “Amazing” together.
Phyna accuses Sheggz of physically abusing Bella during their relationship

Reality star Phyna has accused Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo of physically abusing his former partner, Bella Okagbue, during their four-year relationship. Her allegations came after Sheggz announced that they ended their relationship in January 2026 over “trust and respect” issues.
In a Snapchat post, Phyna alleged that Sheggz tried to control Bella’s friendships and once told her to stop being close to her. She also claimed she witnessed a disturbing incident at Bella’s home, where Bella allegedly appeared distressed after going upstairs with Sheggz.
Phyna further alleged that Bella later told her Sheggz had beaten her and denied claims that Bella cheated on him. She also said Bella often cried after dates because Sheggz allegedly spoke to her disrespectfully in public. Neither Sheggz nor Bella has publicly responded to the allegations.
