Heated words turned deadly in Las Vegas on Thursday after a woman allegedly pulled a shotgun on her male roommate.

Mary Pitrello, 26, is facing first-degree murder charges after shooting her roommate through his bedroom door and trying to use his car to getaway, police said.

The fight started out with a verbal argument at about 9:30 p.m. in the pair’s Clark County apartment . The man retreated to his room and started talking to his boyfriend on the phone, the Las Vegas Sun reports.

In the meantime, Pitrello walked into her bedroom and emerged with a shotgun. She fired through her roommate’s closed door and the shot hit the man in the head. He died on the spot, according to reports.

Pitrello and a female friend who was visiting crammed into the roommate’s white Volkswagen Passat in a desperate attempt to flee the bloody scene.

Las Vegas police caught up with the women in a hotel-casino on Las Vegas Boulevard. They’d left the shotgun in their car.

Pitrello was arrested and charged with first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Police aren’t anticipating any charges against the second woman, My News 3 reports.
