The Nigeria Entertainment industry is one industry that is superfluous with glamour and also synonymous with controversial issues and scandals.
It is common place for celebrities to tweet their grievances; cussing and tearing each other apart on the public social media platform. I think it’s fine for people to disagree but what I find rather appalling is the fact that some celebrities take it too far.
Each time there is a breakup; someone wins, someone loses and someone always gets the short end of the stick. The year 2013 has seen many controversial issues that rocked the boat. Celebrity disputes a.k.a Twitfights are currently trending in the entertainment industry. Let’s take a look at some 2013 celebrity protagonists in trending scandals:
1) Nigerian Musicians, Eeedris Abdulkareem and Nomoreloss:
Unarguably, one of the most surprising celebrity disputes this year; That’s because these two celebrities have not been in the news in a long time and all of a sudden, here they are screaming insults on each other’s timeline. Well, expect the unexpected is what they say. Summarizing the dispute, rapper Eedris Abdulkareem was mentioned in one of Nomoreloss’ tweets, and the rapper did not take it sitting down, he tweeted back at Nomoreloss and soon the conversation escalated to cussing each other on Twitter.

2) Actress/Musician, Tonto Dikeh #Poko:
All hail the queen of controversies! all you need do is give an opinion different from hers, and trust me, she will take you all the way down.
Here’s a recount of what ensued between her and Mercy Johnson:
At first the actress cum singer, Tonto tweeted ‘Nollywood Bridez marry horribly** #SHEBA#…Wen n if I give birth,God plz provide mii wit a husband dat can provide 4uz,Not 1 dat wld send mii bck to actin 2monthz after I born 2Huzzle’
and then Tonto dropped the bigger shell as she tweeted again, ‘Every1 who comes to ma tl to Rant Abt ur FOOL MJ is a bigger baztard Dan SHE is coz I never cald no Bitch’z Name**F*ck U**
Like that wasn’t hurtful enough, she takes a very direct shot at Mercy Johnson, ”Bitch Lozt her Name,U gonno Uze mii az A come back???Naaahhhhh go Nurze Ur Witch Bitch** #StayBlessed”
Well, Mercy Johnson indirectly replied her also via twitter.
“Good morning sweets, hope y’all good? Off to work. Mama Purity loves y’all loads.have a blessed day filled with love”
3) Tonto Dikeh and ex model turned popular blogger, Linda Ikeji:
And when you think she’s done with Mercy, controversial Poko hits it on popular blogger Linda Ikeji with cuss words over a post she put up concerning Tonto’s attire to a movie premiere. See tweet below:
4) Tonto Dikeh and Fans:
Her fans also got a doze of her sledge hammer tongue for not supporting her music career. Here are some of her tweets:
5) Musician, Brymo and Choc city Boss, Audu Maikori:
Hmm … all I can say is, he who wears the shoes really knows where it hurts him the most.
Moving on!
6) Mavin Boss, Don Jazzy and popular musician/label mate, Wande Coal
This one was a major mouth-opener, the split up between Mavin Boss Don Jazzy and label artiste Wande Coal over record of the studio demo of a song titled “Baby face”.
Don baba J as he is fondly called, takes this matter to twitter (as usual) and treats Wande’s matter;
na wa oooh! please who is the actual thief here? lol
7) Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson and Ex-BBA winner, Karen Igho:
and the fight begins
I died!
8) Actress, Rita Dominic and Movie producer, Charles Novia:
Sultry actress Rita Dominic had won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Best of Nollywood Awards for her role in the movie, and Charles Novia rated her as number 5 in his own best actresses for 2013, – i also watched her in another movie recently “finding mercy” but felt that she gave a listless and lukewarm performance in that flick.
that comment provoked our multiple award-winning actress and she poured out her reply on twitter:
then he replies with this tweet:
9) Musicians, Davido and Wakonzy:
And the twitter wars continue, age is no barrier, the young ones are not left out:
and then Waconzy strikes back
10) Nigerian musicians, Flavour and Waconzy:
Well, Flavour decided to try his luck on Waconzy …
In a recent question and answer session with his fans, Flavour replied a fan saying that a possible collaboration between Waconzy and himself will never happen.
Waconzy finds Flavour’s comment insulting, and replies:
Flavour throws in the towel with this tweet:
So much drama for 2013 (insert wicked giggle). Looking forward to 2014. I wonder who and what will trend first #fingers crossed.
Bottom line is, the industry is big enough to accommodate everyone. You don’t have to be negative in order to trend.
