92-year-old Mugabe to contest in Zimbabwe’s 2018 election

92-year-old Robert Mugabe has been endorsed by Zimbabwean ruling party, ZANU-PF party’s congress as its candidate for the 2018 election.

Mugabe has ruled the country for 36 years.

The Congress voiced “its support to the president and first secretary comrade Robert Mugabe as the sole candidate for the forthcoming 2018 elections,” said deputy secretary Eunice Sandi Moyo.

Mugabe has held office since the country’s independence from British rule in 1980.

Mugabe has also refused to name a successor but there have been reports that he would be succeeded by his wife.
