The presidency has reacted to Wole Soyinka’s comparison of the Goodluck Jonathan administration and the Biblical King Nebuchadnezzar’s reign.
The Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, responded to Soyinka stating that his alliance with the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), has clouded his judgement:
“It is quite saddening to note that Prof Wole had become so close to the opposition party so much that he has stopped giving appreciable and unbiased contribution to national topics. Our eminent professor also sadly plays the ostrich as he failed to reprimand Governor Amaechi, who is the ‘national champion of impunity and official recklessness’. The administration of President Goodluck Jonathan prides itself as the most liberal, keeping faith with adherence to rule of law and tolerance,” he stated.
Professor Wole Soyinka had, in a public statement, laid it on the Jonathan administration accusing it of high-handedness in the handling of several state issues including the defection of the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
ike nwosu, lets just stop this criticism… i assumed that you are from southern part of Nigeria.. assuming your brother or sisters are among the thousand that died on daily basis you won’t have say such a thing… gej is the worst president i have ever seen on planet earth, somebody who supposed to be studying how animal will be fed and there relationships with the environment…. such a person is now ruling us!!!
It is regrettably lugubrious that Okupe would reply Soyinka in such an inane way.
Prof Wole Soyinka words means nothing really. If the Professor who does not even believe in the God that made him why will he believe the President? i always try to contain myself not to throw up when i see the name Governor Amechi. People who will not honor their own how will they honor anyone? The way the Governor abuses the President is just baffling and pathetic. President Jonathan is a president that has suffered the most in Nigerian History. If for nothing, i will vote him based on sympathy really. Many even those who were nonentities few years back call him names. Professor Wole,Did Nebuchadnezzar ever repent from his evil ways?
Yes. God taught Nebuchadnezzar a painful lesson when his kingdom collapsed. The king realized his sinful ways and acknowledged that the Daniel’s God is the “Most High” God. He blessed God, praised and honored Him clearly stating that He forever lives and proceeded to make declarations that Jehovah God has an “everlasting dominion” and His kingdom endures “from generation to generation.”
Nebuchadnezzar also said that the God of Daniel does what he wishes “among the inhabitants of the earth.” When the Lord interferes in the affairs of men no one can stop Him. So watch it when you make comparison without reading the complete test because love him or hate him, GEJ will prevail if God says so. No one can and will stop it.
The Professor , Governor Amechi and the APC are the very last people i will give a vote. APC sees nothing good under PDP and GEJ and as such will never offer anything good.
Maybe we should change the name opposition to something else. Because in the Nigerian context the name Opposition has taken a New Dimension. People turn to see Nothing Good about his Political Contemporary. Is this the way forward?
