The saga continues as Charly Boy gives papers 72 hours to retract gay, illuminati stories

by Tolu Orekoya

Make up and power bikes usually don’t appear in the same sentence unless the sentence refers to Charly Boy, one of Nigeria’s longest running “shock jock” entertainers in the business. His deliberately outlandish personality and affection for guyliner have many Nigerians afraid that he is both illuminati and … gay. Rumours popped up on the Internet late last week, and the Saturday Mirror newspaper ran with the story.

The ‘boy’ was not smiling and tweeted:

Daily Independent also published the rumour, and the kohl-eyed one was definitely unhappy about it, giving an interview to the Daily Post tweeting the story:

The story included a letter sent out by Charly Boy’s press secretary Adoyi Abah Ali addressed to Steve Ayorinde, Publisher of National Mirror, and it read, in part:

I’m pained not because a rumour was just speculated that CB is gay and head of Illuminati in Nigeria, but I’m touched due to the fact that you called it a “confession” through a fictitious interview that was never published in your paper or any other paper. If you could conclude that he is gay because of an interview culled from another paper, you should have balanced the story by insisting on hearing the other side. You are respected in the Charly Boy organization as one of the few credible journalists.

We are aware of your fight in the past for integrity and respect, so it is obvious why I can’t hide my disappointment that this irresponsible journalism happened under your watch, in the most unprofessional manner.

Anyway, I should hope that you have a copy of the original interview granted by the Areafada where he admitted being gay on tape.

He also set the combative entertainment lawyer Ope Banwo on the case, asking for a front page retractions from the publications printed within the next 72 hours.

The long-running rumour’s fires have been stoked from time to time by the celebrity himself, most famously posing with other shock jock personality Denerele in a kiss. However the motor-bike loving celebrity staunchly affirms that he is not gay and has nothing to do with the illuminati.
