Pako is the first of a series of designs that will be released under the Stick-Up Collection. “Pako” (pronounced as kpa-ko), is a man who, regardless of the mediocrity around him, holds his head high. His confidence in himself is often interpreted as arrogance and he responds to accusations of conceit by sticking out his tongue in a taunt. The concept Pako was born from Nigerian Afrobeat King, Fela’s song by the same name. While the general impression of a “pako” is someone hardened from poverty, Fela saw the same as one who is competent, stuck to his strengths and excels in his chosen field.
“Dare to be a Pako, defy detraction, and don a Pako by Qomé,” said Tega Allen, the designer.
Qome, The Clothing Company is a Nigerian label with purely bespoke designs which cuts across several product lines such as Jackets, Footwears, Polos, Blazers, Suits, Tunics, Tuxedos and more. The label exists to serve its customers who dictate the trends themselves. It’s safe to say that the brand isn’t like the regular kind you see around, as all the pieces Qome makes have something unique about them.
Tega Allen Agbosa, is a lawyer by profession. He found his love for fashion as a little boy sketching and helping his mum (who owned a fashion house called Renee’s) with beads and sequins. He spent 2 years conceptualizing and making clothes for himself before coming up with the label.
Qome, The Clothing Company’s ethos are Quality, Innovation and Fun.
