The Vice President and running mate to the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yemi Osinbajo has said that the social investment policy of the Muhammadu Buhari is about the largest in the history of the country.
Osinbajo who disclosed this at the presidential debate organised by the NEDG/BON on Friday in Abuja, stressed that it is impossible to eradicate poverty in the absence of social investment programmes.
“You must have poverty if you don’t have a social investment policy, and that is what we have now,” he said.
On the issue of infrastructure, he lamented the deficit in the area, noting however that at the inception of the Muhammadu Buhari administration in 2015, the country was generating just 4,000MW of power.
“Our country has suffered a major infrastructure deficit that is why we can’t be like countries like China and South Africa. When we came into office power was at 4000MW,” he said.
“President Buhari has spent N2.7 trillion on capital and infrastructure project in two budget streams. The highest of any government so far. In every state of Nigeria today, we have a major road project,” he added.
