With the increased cases of violence by militant groups in the northern part of country, many Nigeria Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members are choosing to be redeploy out of Kano to other states.

Out of the 2,150 Batch ‘B’ corp members posted to Kano, 1,277 of them have chosen to redeploy to other states citing insecurity among others as the  reasons for their decision.

According to the state’s NYSC co-ordinator, Alhaji Bashir Yakasai, 1,108 of those who requested to be redeployed did so on security and health grounds while 169 did on marital grounds.

He went on to disclose that though 50 corps members changed their posting to Kano State, the corps members remaining will not meet the state’s demand.

He said: “With the population of Kano, the remaining 873 corps members are grossly inadequate to cater for the state.”

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports, Yakasai commended the state government for its unwavering support for the programme and called on other stakeholders to do their bit in making the NYSC scheme a success.

He concluded by assuring all the state corps members of adequate security during their stay in the state.
