It has been said that a person shows their true nature when they are angry. The statement does seem to make sense; when we get angry, we tend to act without the filters we usually use to adhere to societal norms.
Understandably, it is difficult to anger a person to the extent that they completely lose control of themselves. However some people are easily provoked.
One such individual, forty two year old Jason Codner from England, became enraged by the non-refundable terms of his T-Mobile phone contract and reacted quite violently when he didn’t receive the response he wanted. Codner sprayed a fire extinguisher at the staff of the store, flipped tables over, and threw merchandise off the shelves.
Another customer that observed the incident reported, “We couldn’t believe how much damage had been caused. He must have been seriously angry about something to go on such a rampage. Normally, disgruntled shoppers would have just an exchange of words with a member of the staff about a product, but this guy took it to a whole new level.”
A police spokesman stated that Codner was charged with criminal damage and public order offenses
and is scheduled to appear before the Salford and Manchester Magistrates Court.
A T-Mobile representative assured the public that all of the customers and staff were promptly led out of the store during the incident and that the police were called as soon as possible. They also stated that Codner’s contract with them explicitly stated that it could not be refunded. Basically, they explained that they did not cause the problem and reacted responsibly.
As for Jason Codner, I hope the judge doesn’t forget to include a mandatory anger management class in his sentence.
