The abductors of Musa Adisa, the former president of the Master Bakers Association (MBAN), Ondo State Chapter have reportedly demanded for a N30m ransom for his release.
Adisa, 90, was kidnapped on Tuesday while on his way to observe his early morning prayers at the mosque.
Musbau Iyiola, the abductee’s son told newsmen that the kidnappers contacted the family to demand the ransom but negotiations is still ongoing.
He said, “They called me and demanded N30 million, and where would I get that amount from? I told them to collect N500,000, which is what I could afford, but they said no and ended the conversation.”
Iyiola appealed to the police to help he family in rescuing his father.
The police spokesman in Akure, the Ondo state capital, Wole Ogodo, said security agents are doing all within their power to secure Adisa’s release.
“We are working round the clock, we are on top of the situation, we are making serious efforts to track down the perpetrators and get the old man liberated,” Ogodo reportedly said.
Ogodo appealed to the people of the state to field the police with useful information that could lead to arrest of criminals in their environments.
