Live Theatre on Sunday hosts another edition of its usual monthly stage plays this Easter weekend featuring experienced actors with a passion for the arts. The play titled Belong is an Easter production to be showcased this Saturday, April 19th, 2014 at the Federal Palace Hotel by 3pm and 7pm.
Written by Bola Agbaje, the play is a light comedy about identity, stations in life and politics. The 75 minute-long piece tells of the challenges of being a ‘Diasporian’, deals with love, and explores the theme of gained and missed opportunities. Furthermore, it questions the notions of identity as many people go through life questioning where they truly ‘Belong’. The story begins with a couple Kayode (Toyin Oshinnaike) and Rita (Dolapo Oni) who reside in London. They are at a low point as Kayode has failed in his attempts to achieve election to Parliament after an embarrassing Twitter episode. As if the depression isn’t enough for a man who has sacrificed his career to misguided allegations about the racism of his equally Black political opponent, in the course of it comes Fola (Bimbo Akintola), the first of a pair of truly overpowering Nigerian women. Her job is to sell the country to émigrés and persuade them to come back “home”.
The play features Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Bimbo Akintola, Tunji Sotimirin, Toyin Oshinnaike, Dolapo Oni, OC Ukeje and more.
The stage play is supported by Ebony- Life TV, MTN, Mansard Insurance, Myne Whitman, 96.9 Cool FM, 95.1 Wazobia FM, 99.3 Nigeria Info, YNaija, Timeless Magazine, Bella Naija, 99.9 Beat FM, 97.3 Classic FM, Maestro Media, City People Magazine, Entertainment Express, Maestro Media, OnoBello. com, eStar TV and RealstarTV on Startimes.
