A diva bows out: Christy Essien Igbokwe passes away at 51

According to recent reports, Nigeria’s ‘Lady of Songs’, Christy Essien-Igbokwe passed away today, at the age of 51 after a few days illness. A true music diva, whose hit songs include ‘Hear the Call’  and all-time favourite ‘Omo Mi Seun ReRe’ among several others, the one of a kind Essien-Igbokwe was the first female president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN).

  1. Will really miss her, her comportment even in times of undeserved troubles and her songs which are lessons in moral and philosophy.

  2. What a colossal loss to the entire body of entertainers in Nigeria. I think young Artistes should borrow a leaf from people like Essein Igbokwe who have profound moral qualities in terms of Music lyrics. Songs like 'Omo mi seun rere' remains evergreen unlike the sensual, vugal songs spreading in this generation.
