Abuja was ‘originally a grazing reserve’ for cattle

The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja was originally supposed to be a grazing reserve.

In 1965, there were 485 grazing reserves in Nigeria, with 115 of them fully functional, while others were forest reserves.

The National Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Alhaji Kiruwa Zuru, revealed this to journalists journalists in Birni-Kebbi, Kebbi state.

Zuru disclosed that those reserves have now been used for development projects, such as airports and schools.

“Meanwhile, no replacement has been provided since the take-over of these reserves for development,” Zuru said.
