Adele leads nominations for the American Music Awards

British singer Adele leads the pack of nominees for this year’s American Music Awards with a total of four nominations including Artist of the Year. Her sophomore record ‘21’ is the highest selling album this year yet in the U.S. with 3.5million copies sold so far.

Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, and The Band Perry follow closely with 3 nods a piece. The nominations were announced in Los Angeles by rappers Nicki Minaj and Pitbull. Both are confirmed performers for the awards ceremony proper to be held November 20 at the Nokia Theatre in L.A.
