APC: Nigerians react to Yahaya Bello’s statement on Obaseki’s exit

Following the movement of Edo Governor, Godwin Obaseki, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), former party mate and Governor-colleague, Yahaya Bello commented on its implications for the ruling party.

Speaking to State House Correspondents on Monday, Governor Yahaya Bello expressed sadness that Governor Obaseki decamped from the APC under any circumstance but insists that despite his exit, the party would still win the Edo State Governorship Elections holding on September 19, as well as those of Ondo and Anambra states respectively.

His comments garnered tons of reactions from Nigerians, with many tagging his assertion as false confidence. A number of persons also concluded that there was no way the APC would win this year, stressing that the Governor’s statement was at best, ridiculous.

Some others praised the Kogi State Governor for speaking his truth and declared that he was courageous in doing so.

Some also commented on his prediction for the party in the forthcoming Anambra Governorship election.

It is yet to be seen how much difference Governor Obaseki’s exit would make, but political watchers appear to be following the developments keenly to see if the APC would retain Governorship of the state.
