Army arrests soldier for shooting judiciary worker

The Nigerian Army, 2 Brigade has arrested a soldier, Sergeant Usman Tella for shooting a judiciary worker, Godwin Udoaka in Akwa Ibom State.

Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abdu Ibrahim Hassan, disclosed this on Saturday during his visit to the hospital where Udoaka is receiving treatment.

A statement issued by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Captain Shuaib Umar, stated that the commander would provide necessary support for Udoaka’s quick recovery.

“The Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abdu Ibrahim Hassan, has assured Godwin Udoaka who was injured by a soldier following an argument on right of way on Wednesday in Uyo that the Command will provide necessary support to ensure his quick recovery.

“The soldier has since been arrested and regimental inquiry is in progress to ensure appropriate disciplinary measure is taken in order to prevent future recurrence,” the statement noted.

Udoaka’s wife, Imaobong thanked the commander for visiting her husband.

She was quoted in the statement as saying, “I want to thank you very much on behalf of my husband and my children. God will bless you sir.”
