ASUP to begin indefinite strike on Monday

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has said it would commence an indefinite strike starting from Monday, November 13.

ASUP announced this after its national executive council meeting at the Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna state on Saturday.

Usman Dutse, ASUP President said the Federal Government has  refused to implement its agreements with the union reached since 2016.

He listed some of their demands to include non-implementation of the NEEDS Assessment report, shortfalls in personnel releases and withdrawal of allowances and non-passage of the amended bill of the Polytechnic Act.

Others are infractions in the appointment of rectors, as well as improving the conditions of state-owned institutions, among other issues.
