In this interview, Belinda, who was a subject of discussion during the last African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) with her outfit, speaks on growing up, her African vaues, the movies, the controversial Adams Oshiomhole wedding and more.

Growing up: Growing up was fun, I grew up in a house where there were a lot of principles. My dad was a military man, it was just a happy family. I pretty much had everything I wanted but we weren’t allowed to do Boys. I couldn’t even venture into that zone, I wasn’t into boys until after Secondary School, I couldn’t express myself with Boys back then due to my growing up principle.

Acting:  It has always been my passion. From when I was young I would write stories and give my elder sisters and friends to read. From Primary School, I would mimic people and that is where it all started from. I didn’t have to pay with my body to get to where I am now, there are still some of us who diligently worked hard to get to where we are today. I earned it, it is the grace of God and my hard work that has got me thus far. I wasn’t ready to compromise and I would never do that.

Even when things were not working, I took some time off the industry to reposition myself, I didn’t have to pay through anything to join Nollywood.

Dating a rich versus poor man: For me, being poor is a state of the mind so if your mentality as a guy is poor then I cannot date you or marry you. I can be someone who is not wealthy or financially comfortable yet but if he is hardworking and has got a drive, I will stand by him.

Adams Oshimomhole wedding: Iara is old enough to made her decision. Why would anyone stoop so low as to accuse her of marrying the Governor for his money? Most times it is the empty vessels that make the loudest noise. If you are above 18, you owe no one any explanations as regards whomever you marry.

She won’t be the first to marry a rich man that is way older than her, neither will she be the last. Some ladies are drawn towards older men because they get more attention from them unlike the younger men who rarely give them all the attention they think they deserve, so for me, she owes nobody any explanations. Whatever rocks her boat please!

African Culture: I am a believer in African values and today I have grown up to be a better person. I believe in promoting my cultural heritage like I did at the AMVCA and I believe in not having sex till after mariage. If two people decide to be in a relationship, they should respect each other by abstaining from sex. It is sacrilege and should be respected. They should respect each other by abstaining from sex. I believe in no sex before marriage even if you used to do it before, then stop it because it is not holy. Your body is the temple of God, so keep it holy. We all make mistakes so even if you are no longer a virgin, just respect yourself and values. If a man truly values you, he should wait.

Hobby: I love cooking, it is my hobby. I enjoy being indoors, resting, and reading. The life of an actor is crazy, sometimes I shoot till 2am so I rarely have time for myself but when I am free, I relax and spend time with me.

Misconception: People always think I am snobbish and rude but I am not. I am one of the nicest and most down to earth persons on earth. Materials things don’t matter to me, I care about people and love to empower those I can help.

The God factor: I may be into showbiz but I don’t joke with God. I am very religious. I am fashion conscious and savy and love to exhibit my creatives. Yes, I don’t dress religiously because I have so much in my head as regards fashion but I don’t joke wth God.

My fashion creativity is so mind blowing that if I have to bring them all out to red carpets and events, people will probably go crazy and won’t stop arguing about what I wear like it hapened with the AMVCA. Truth is, I am relilgous, I don’t joke with my Bible, when I am down, it helps me get stronger and God actually called me to be an actress. I always encourage myself in the word of God.

Words to fans: The you in you makes you the you that you are, so never give up on ou. If you fail, dust yourself and start again.
