Police describe Vincent Bright, who tried to resurrect his father, as deeply religious. He will serve probation for his crime.

A Detroit man stole his dead father’s body from a graveyard because he thought he could bring him back to life.

Deeply religious Vincent Bright, 48, dug up the corpse of 93-year-old Clarence Bright from the city’s Gethsemane Cemetery on Jan. 14.

He then carried it back to his east side home, where he stored it in a freezer.

Cops were tipped off by worried family members and raided the property.

Bright was arrested and charged with disinterring a body. The Huffington Post reports that he told cops he hoped he could resurrect his dad.

On Monday he pleaded guilty after cutting a deal with prosecutors.

He will serve only probation with credit for time already served. He had faced 10 years in prison.

Bright, who has been released on bail, will be sentenced Sept. 24 in Wayne County Circuit Court.
