In a bizarre medical case that is baffling doctors, Kelvin Santos, 2 (pictured above), sat up in the coffin at his funeral, asked for water to drink before becoming lifeless once more.

According to Brazilian news outlets, the toddler had died earlier in the day from bronchial pneumonia at the Aberlardo Santos Hospital, in Belem, a Brazilian city in the north of the country. When he was pronounced dead, his  body was placed in a body bag for three hours. Later in the day, the family came together for an open-casket wake-keeping.

Kelvin’s aunt told reporters that during the wake, the child seemed to be moving several times, until he sat up, and asked his father for a drink of water. The family thought they were experiencing a miracle, but unfortunately, he lay down seconds later and died again, and no one could revive thee child.

His father Antonio Santos, is determined to find out what happened and get some answers as he believes that his son might have been the victim of medical malpractice.

“Fifteen minutes after rushing him away for resuscitation, they came and told me he was dead and handed me his body. Perhaps they didn’t examine him properly. Dead people don’t just wake up and talk,” he said according to The Daily Mail. “I’m determined to find out the truth.”
