BREAKING: Customs seizes 1,100 firearms at Lagos port

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 1,100 firearms smuggled into the country at Tin-Can Island port, Lagos.

Comptroller General of the Nigerian Custom Service, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) confirmed this on Monday.

He said the weapons concealed in a 1×20 ft container.

He said the weapons were discovered by custom officers who were carrying out 100 percent examination of the container.

NCS spokesman, Joseph Attah revealed that the weapons were imported from Turkey.

“We have seized 1,100 weapons at Lagos port. They came from Turkey,” Attah said.

“Investigation has commenced. A customs officer, who is a suspect has been arrested. A clerk there (at the Tin-Can Island command) has been arrested as well.”
