A 42-year-old woman, Megumi Igarashi has been arrested by the police for making £6,000 from the sale of photos of her vagina.

Igarashi, whose pseudonym ‘Rokude Nashiko means ‘good for nothing girl’, is a Tokyo-based artist accused of distributing 3D data of her vagina 30 people, seeking financial assistance for her art project; a kayak inspired by her own genitalia which she calls “pussy boat”.

The artist is being held in custody in Tokyo on suspicion of breaking Japanese obscenity laws.

If convicted she could receive up to two years in jail or a fine of as much as 2.5 million yen (£14,300/US$24,500), according to her lawyer.
