This morning, as the result of an electrical fault, the studio that films Project Fame and Who Wants To Be A Millionare went up in flames.
Our correspondent, Richard Odilu, was at the scene today.
The Lagos State Police Spokesman speaks exclusively to us on the fire that razed Ultima Studios, where hit shows including Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Project Fame are filmed
We saw the police at the scene…
We were there to provide enabling environment for fire fighters and other agencies. Protect them from hoodlums and pilfering. We also ensured less traffic and commotion throughout the incident.
What caused this fire?
Investigation is on into d incidence. It’s too early to say what caused d fire and I crave patience and understanding from d public. We would let them know soon as.
Could it have been a set up sir – it’s what certain people are saying?
I won’t want to be caught in a speculative web. Police investigation is very scientific and (there is) no room for guessing. We are approaching investigation with open minds and after that we would piece it all together to reach a verifiable conclusion. Till then, I can’t say. Focus is on investigation.
Any link to any source based on findings so far?
It’s all speculations right now and we won’t b stampeded into guess work because it’s not part of what to do as police offers. We need to dig and find facts before saying anything.
When would we hear the findings?
These cases are top priority as they involve human lives and property and we are doing our best to get to the root of the source.
More information about the fire, including a full story on its cause, and the response of the fire agencies as well as comments by Project Fame winner Inyanya and others will be filed as soon as our reporter returns from the scene where he is presently.
