As the controversy in the House of Representatives continue to deepen, President Muhammadu Buhari will on Friday meet with Speaker of the House or Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
According to the Punch who spoke to sources in the Presidency, the budget padding accusations currently rocking the House will be a major part of the discussion between the President and Dogara.
The source revealed that Dogara’s scheduled visit to Buhari was on the instance of the Speaker as a possible opportunity to give his own side of the story in the ongoing budget padding allegations.
Both men will meet after Friday’s Jumat prayers.
The source said, “The President will be meeting with the Speaker after Jumat on Friday (today).
“The meeting will hold around 2.30pm in the President’s office.
“There is nothing unusual in the two leaders meeting. They do so regularly, but I know this one is at the instance of the Speaker.”
On whether the President will protect the Speaker from further investigations, the source said, “We all know the President’s position on corruption. With that, I don’t think the Speaker will make any demand on him apart from stating his side of the story.”
