First batch of Muslim pilgrims depart for Hajj (PHOTOS)

Despite the controversies and reactions that trailed the subsidy of the 2016 Hajj, the flagging-off ceremony of the holy journey took place today at Sokoto State.

The Federal Government’s decision to allow intending Hajj travellers to exchange the dollars at N197 had created a lot of buzz across the nation.

Some of those who attended the ceremony were the Chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Mukhtar Muhammed, Governors Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto and Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar.
