Customs quizzes 15 senior officers over importation of 661 rifles

As part of investigations into the  illegal importation of 661 rifles, the Nigerian Customs Service has grilled about 15 of its officers, Punch reports.

It was gathered that two officers Abdullahi I, with service number 44483 ASC, and Odiba Haruna Inah, with service number 133386 ACIC are currently facing trial for their role in the crime.

A source said about 14 officers had been quizzed at the FOU while the prime suspects were undergoing an orderly room trial.

Recall that customs officers had intercepted a truck with registration number BUG 265 XG, conveying 661 rifles in Lagos last year.

The Customs has however handed over the rifles to the Department of State Services (DSS).
