On this day six years ago, Nigeria lost a pace setter, a progenitor of the Yoruba-rap movement, a hard-hitting lyricist, an incredible music star who gave people the belief that exceptional things could come out from the ghetto.
Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun, fondly known as Dagrin, passed away on April 22, 2010 – after a gruesome auto accident.
His music which produced some unforgettable lyrics accompanied by his smooth almost effortless delivery endeared him to the hearts of many.
He blended three atypical languages English, Pidgin and Yoruba and immersed it in his music – making it appeal to almost every tom, dick and harry in the country.
This has paved the way and influenced other indigenous artistes which includes Olamide, Phyno, Lil Kesh and so on.
