A 25-year old mother named Joy Tunde has been arrested for dumping her three-day-old baby in an unfinished building.

The act was carried out at about 2am on Saturday, but residents in the area discovered the baby three days later.
And the best part, the baby was alive!

The Nation newspaper reports that she threw the baby over a fence onto the unfinished building at Obazuaye Street, off Osakpamwan Street, Evbareke Quarters, Egor local government area of Edo State.

Eyewitnesses said the mother of the baby confessed to the act when they threatened to deploy spiritual means to investigate the incident.

Owning up to her crime, Joy disclosed that she threw the baby away because she had a previous “unwanted” baby for another man.

According to her, she threw the baby away after the man that impregnated her refused to accept responsibility for the baby.

Men of the Textile Mill road police division arrested Joy and her mother but the baby was taken to the neonatal clinic of the Benin Central Hospital.

Bruises were discovered on the head and side of the baby.

The hospital Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Sandra Omoregbe, said the baby is responding to treatment.
