The official website of the Nigerian Entertainment Today was compromised on April 18, with many observers wondering what might be the motive of the hackers until information got out that there was a demand for a $1,200 ransom, kidnapping-style.
With dust yet to settle on that unfortunate incident, there are confirmed reports that the popular blogsite, Ladun Liadi Blogspot has also been compromised. Readers visited the blog site to see an image with caption, “This website has been hacked by the Archangels.”
We spoke exclusively with the blogger, Ladun Liadi and this is what she has to say about the attack:
When did you discover that your blog security might have been compromised?
Ladun Liadi: Some minutess after 7pm yesterday (Wednesday) evening.
The NETng website was also hacked recently, what do you think is the purpose of these hackers?
Ladun Liadi: I wouldn’t know.
Do you think both incidents are somehow related?
Ladun Liadi: I have no idea.
Has it crossed your mind that this might be a reaction to a story you may have published, could it be some form of retaliation?
Ladun Liadi: To be honest I don’t think so. I haven’t published any story anyone can find offensive of late. I just think the hackers are just being funny.
What actions are you currently taking to restore the blog to normal?
Ladun Liadi: Hopefully, we guess it’s fully back now, just still working on my recovery mail option.
Do you intend to report the attack to relevant security agencies for further action?
Ladun Liadi: We have already done that.
What message do you have for your readers?
Ladun Liadi: God bless them all. The love was so much yesterday till midnight. I also woke up to see their messages. Never knew people loved us that much. I am so grateful to God and to my forever bright, loyal, funny, intriguing readers.
