Taruwa celebrates fourth anniversary with its hundredth episode

Popular creative forum, Taruwa, hosted its 100th edition yesterday August 31, 2011 while celebrating its fourth anniversary. The event which was held at Bogobiri House was packed with lots of creatively entertaining artists who turned up to showcase their arts as well as to celebrate the forum’s anniversary.

The evening was hosted by Adekunle ‘Snatcha’ Ayoola who ushered in different acts with his usual funny anecdotes. The top of the list of performers were Christine Ben-Ameh and Bez, others including Ibiyemi, Isebiama and Ese Peters also gave mesmerizing performances as well. The Open Mic poetry session had Plumbline, Efe Paul, Kunle Snatcha and Cheelah at different intervals with Lala Akindoju taking over centre stage immediately after in a one-man short play.

Taruwa founder, Lydia Idakula Sobogun joined forces with songstress Ibiyemi to infuse more fun into the evening. Uche Nnaji of Ouch also made an impromptu stage appearance before fast rising product of the forum, Bez, finally closed the night. The Cobams Asuquo Music Productions artist reeled out tracks off his recently released debut album, ‘Super Sun’ with his band aptly backing him up with.

Other notable faces at the event included Keziah Jones; female rapper, Bouqui; erstwhile X3M Music singer, Etcetera; Uche Nnaji and many more.

Nigerian Idol season II update

As the second edition of the Nigerian version of the global musical talent competition, Nigerian Idols, draws ever closer, lovers of the franchise continue to speculate the hosts for the coming installment. Names of various On-Air-personalities have been whispered and speculated including Beat FM’s Toolz and actress Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju with presenter, Ill Rhymz, and Praiz also mentioned as the top runners for the slot for a male presenter.
Although the organizers, probably opting for the surprise option, appear to be playing their cards close to the chest, fans are optimistic that this coming edition will remain packed with excitement and thrills as in the former.
the maiden edition of the Nigerian Idol was won by Yeka Onka, 26 year old Abia State born singer is currently working on her debut album.
