Nigerian fashion designer, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi was a guest on Channels Television programme, ‘Sunrise Today’, on Saturday, 25 October, and she harped at length on her love for her craft, fashion.
The face behind the rising LDA couture managed to step on the toes of football fans as she attempted to articulate why fashion is more important than football. Ajayi sneered about the Super Eagles’ recent falterings in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.
She said, “Imagine we were beaten by Congo and the federal government spends 235million naira on NFF monthly!”.
Her comments sparked a Twitter war between fashion and football lovers, with the hashtags, #Gofashion and #Gofootball trending as fans on both divide defended their passions.
Here are the top Twitter reactions from Da Silva’s comments
First impressions are based not just on what a person says but also what a person wore when they said it. Fashion defines you #gofashion
