Fayose accused of lying, deceiving Ekiti people

The leadership of organised labour groups in Ekiti state, on Sunday, accused the state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of lying and blackmailing the unions.

The was made this known in a press statement issued after an emergency meeting of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Joint Negotiating Council in Ado Ekiti.

While denying the allegations that the unions took part in sharing the monthly allocation gotten from the federal government, they lambasted the governor for declaring falsely the amount generated by the state internally.

The organised labour noted that Fayose’s claims about the state’s IGR was contrary to the amounts declared by the Accountant-General of the state.

According to the trade unions, the figures disclosed by the Accountant-General ranged from N150m and N200m, except that of N268m for April, the highest so declared by Fayose.

Others are: N267m for September 2015; N252m for October 2015; N195m for November 2015; N181m for December 2015, as well as N389m, N381m, and N302m, respectively declared by the governor for January, February and March, 2016.

The organised labour further noted that “the idea of labour leaders sharing monthly cash allocation and the governor approving does not arise. There has never been any advice or suggestion given to government by the organised labour at this forum that has ever been taken.”
