The Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance, Toyin Ojo, has been detained by the Department of State Services since Monday, March 7.

The commissioner for finance is being quizzed on how the state spent the N5.2bn that was paid by the federal government as reimbursement for the money spent on federal roads during the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Ojo was said to have reported at the national headquarters of the service in Abuja, joining a member of the state House of Assembly, representing Efon Alaaye Constituency, Afolabi Akani, and Musa Arogundade, who is representing Ado Ekiti Constituency 1.

The latter have been undergoing interrogation at the DSS office in Abuja since Friday, March 4.

The security agency has also invited Owoseni Ajayi, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Kolapo Kolade, the Commissioner on Local Government Affairs, as well as a member of the Ekiti state Judicial Service Commission, Obafemi Adewale.

Ropo Ogunjobi, who was recently sacked by the governor as the Chairman of the state Internal Revenue Board, is also believed to be in the custody of the DSS.

Punch Newspapers reports that the government of Governor Ayodele Fayose is being investigated over “multi-faceted probe over sundry allegations.”

The investigation and arrests stemmed from the revelation of the former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Dr. Temitope Aluko, who had alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan gave Fayose $35m to facilitate the June 21, 2014 governorship election in the state.

Aluko also claimed that Jonathan had before then, given Fayose another $2m to enable him to win the PDP governorship primary.
