In controversial circumstances, Femi Gbajabiamila, emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC for the Speakership of the Federal House of Representatives.

A mock primaries was conducted by the leadership of the APC at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Saturday, June 6, but it would eventually turn out to be the real deal.

The contest was between Gbajabiamila and Hon. Yakubu Dogara, and the former would trounce the latter by polling 160 votes as at last count.

Dogara, who is presently far behind with less than 5 votes, has staged a walk out from the premises in protest, alongside his supporters.

His supporters, known as the Consolidation Group, are said to have plans of carrying out a parallel primary at a different venue.
