The first batch of an experimental vaccine against Ebola is on its way to Liberia, according to reports.

Though this is the first shipment to potentially serve as a preventative medicine to reach Liberia which has suffered the hardest on the hit since the disease came into place, experts say that it may be difficult to establish whether the jab offers any protection against the virus.

Produced by British company GlaxoSmithKline and the US National Institutes of Health, the company said a plane would arrive in Monrovia on Friday with some 300 initial doses of the vaccine.
