If you use ATM cards or SIM cards daily (inevitable), you are a frequent user of smartcard technology. Which means you are among SecureID’s target end users.
SecureID is a Nigeria-based company into the production and personalization of smartcards – used by banks, telcos and content providers alike for customer identity management and digital security solutions.
The company has today commissioned a world class, EMV-certified smartcard manufacturing plant – the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa. SecureID CEO, Kofo Akinkugbe says this move is in line with promoting local content, with 100% Nigerian ownership, and a workforce projected to be 95% Nigerian.
The manufacturing plant, which will locally produce SIM cards, payment cards and secure identity cards for telcos, banks and public and private industries respectively, is reported to have an annual production capacity of 200 million cards.
The manufacturing plant was commissioned today in Lagos by the ICT Minister, Dr. Omobola Johnson.
