A man was driving around in his car with a traffic sign pole lodged in his head, according to police reports.

The man was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries when police stopped him and found he was driving with a portion of traffic signal inside his head, a local Florida newspaper reported.

Florida Highway Patrol said that Leslie Richard Newton, 63, of St. Augustine, was driving a gray Camaro eastbound on SR 16 when he hit a sign. He just continued driving onto highway U.S. 1, just north of SR 16 with a portion of the traffic signal inside his head.
