While the Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, was busy praising the Buhari administration for the removal of fuel subsidy, Leadership is reporting that Fulani herdsmen attacked his state, killing five persons.
The herdsmen were said to have attacked Agwabi community in Binev council ward of Buruku local government area of Benue State on Friday night.
According to the police public relations officer, (PPRO) in the state, ASP Moses Yamu, the bloodthirsty herdsmen attacked and instantly killed two Tiv farmers with machetes while three other persons died in the hospital from injuries sustained in the attack.
The herdsmen also destroyed several properties in the community before retreating. Members of the community are said to have fled the area and are now taking shelter outside their homes without food or water.
Security officials have long since been deployed to the village.
