Fun, style & making a difference at the MAD Charity Fashion Show

by Yemi Olowu

The MAD fashion and charity show was organised by a group of young Nigerians who formed The M.A.D (Making A Difference) Foundation.  With a desire to change Nigeria, they set up the charity event on the 22nd of December, 2010, which featured the collections of nine young designers. The venue of the event, The Getz Arena was packed full of youths who were highly entertained and ready to make a change. Holla At Ya Boy crooner, Wiz Kid also stopped by with a wonderful performance.

One of the of projects the MAD foundation is to revive the only school of learning in Ibeshe Sea Beach which is the Local Authority Primary School. They plan to completely renovate the available structure and provide teaching aids, blackboards, writing materials, textbooks etc, and they hope to finish renovations in time for their second term examinations in March/ April 2011.

Some of the other aims of the foundation are to improve the quality of education in the community and to provide a better learning environment and arouse a sense of pride in the community.
