Hard Rock Cafe to honour Fela Anikulapo Kuti

Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has not stopped receiving accolades, honours and awards, as Temple Management Company (TMC) is set to induct Fela into the Hard Rock Music Memorabilia Collection.

The Hard Rock Café induction is being put together by Temple Management Company (TMC) and have done same with juju legend King Sunny Ade (KSA) as well as staging the much-talked about ‘Sunny On Sunday’ concert.

Fela’s costume is therefore to be donated to Hard Rock Collection, while Femi and Seun Kuti would perform live.

In her press releease, Hard Rock Cafe says Fela’s costume will be placed alongside other world music legends on the Music Memorabilia Collection.

The induction which is slated for May 25 coincides with the 20th anniversary of Fela’s death, and is to be witnessed by Fela’s friends, entertainment bigwigs and Nigerian elite.

One the major highlights of the induction will be the release of a new song ‘ Mr Lakaye’ (Tribute to Ogun) dedicated to the late Afrobeat legend, by 2 time Grammy Award-winning artiste, Lekan Babalola; produced by Will Angelero (New York – UK based Producer) and co-produced by Lekan Babalola.

TMC’s Head of Entertainment, Mark Redguard said, “The Hard Rock Induction is event again reinforces the influence that the great Fela Anikulapo-Kuti still commands twenty years later. We at TMC are delighted to be identified with another historic occasion that further develops and memorializes the Nigerian Music industry worldwide”.
