Just minutes ago, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega, announced incumbent President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the winner of the election which held on Saturday, 16th April, 2011.
With 22, 495, 187 votes out of 39, 469, 484 total votes cast, it would seem that the President’s good luck has not run out! This does not come as surprise though, as the state by state results announcement between Sunday and today, 18th April, already revealed that the Peoples’ Democratic Party forerunner took far more votes than any other candidate across the federation.
The General Muhammadu Buhari and Pastor Tunde Bakare-led Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) came in second place with 12, 214, 853 votes, which were mostly from the Northern states, and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) came in next with 2, 079, 151 votes.
