Roy Mitchell entered a convenience store. He took a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos and throws them on the counter and gives the clerk two dollars for his snack.
As the clerk opened the register he decided to make his move. He pulls out a gun and points it at the clerk and demands all the money in the cash register. The cashier doesn’t move as if in shock.

Then things take an interesting turn when Mitchell’s mother walks into the store and she sees her son trying to rob the store with a gun. His mother grabs the gun and orders him to leave the store. He obeys leaving with no cash but, he does get his chips.

His mom told the clerk that the gun wasn’t real, begging her not to call the cops, they drive away in their red Oldsmobile. Meanwhile the clerk called police to the scene. A short time later their car was stopped by Pelahatchie Police and Mitchell was taken into custody.

Officers found a gun in the vehicle. It turned out to be a fake plastic replica made to look like the real thing. Mitchell is facing attempted armed robbery charges in addition to the embarrassment of having surveillance video of a robbery attempt shown on the evening news where he was busted by his own mother.
