“I couldn’t see the ground and I fell” – Lanre DaSilva Ajayi speaks on ARISE and her rise

 by Ifreke Inyang

Lanre Da Silva AJayi sits comfortably in the A-list of Nigerian fashion designers. Her elegant and eclectic designs stand out on whoever wears them. Shortly after appearing on Rubbin Minds last Sunday, we put Lanre on the spot. Here’s what she had to say:

What was the ARISE Fashion Week like?

It was amazing, it was splendid. I have a very lovely time. I was really excited about the show. I thank Mr Nduka Obaigbena and the entire ARISE team for putting together a great event.

Tell us about that fall.

I went through the wrong exit and it was completely black. I couldn’t see the ground and I fell. For me, it just makes know that the brand has evolved and is going far. So everything that happens, people take note and talk about it. I thank God for everything.

What are you working on currently?

I am working on my collection, so I’m looking forward to that.

What makes someone dressed in a LDA dress stand out?

I think it’s my unique way of dressing people. It’s Vintage for today’s woman and a lot of women seem to appreciate the style. If you look at magazines today, you will see that most people. That’s what makes my collection stands out.

Any plans for a male collection any time soon?

I’m looking forward to it. I make stuff for my husband from time to time. Making clothes for women is a big deal so I’m not in a hurry. It will take a while but eventually, I will get round to it.
