Three men in Lagos have been arrested and charged to court over allegations of assault.
Tope Odunuga, 25, Ponle Oyeshola, 27, and Oluwaseun Meshiloye, 29, were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in the Abule-Egba area of the state after reports that they beat up a man and stole a gold chain, valued at N25,000, from him.
The victim, Ismail Adeosun, is said to have “snatched” a girlfriend of one of his attackers.
The suspects are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and assault.
The prosecutor, Insp. Racheal Williams, told the court that the offences were committed on Jan. 1, 2014 at No 7 Olukosi St., Oke-Odo.
According to her, the accused went to the house of one Ismail Adeosun at about 4a.m. and assaulted him with broken bottles.
Williams said they also stabbed him in the neck and made away with his gold chain.
“In the first accused’s statement, we were made to understand that they attacked him because he snatched the girlfriend of one of them.
“Also, the accused beat two men they met in the complainant’s house and collected sum of N270,000 from them,” she said.
Williams said the complainant was still at the intensive care unit at the hospital receiving treatment.
The offences, she noted, contravened Sections 171, 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
