Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Monday Igbuya has been impeached on Thursday morning, SaharaReporters reports.

His impeachment reportedly took place during a session of the state House of Assembly session.

Igbuya was immediately replaced with the lawmaker representing Okpe constituency, Sheriff Oborevwori as the new speaker.

It was learnt that Igbuya’s impeachment was signed by 22 out of the 29 members of the state’s legislative assembly.

It was gathered that Deputy Speaker, Mr. Friday Osanebi, presided at the assembly sitting where the former speaker, Igbuya, was impeached alongside the Majority Leader, Tim Owhofere.

He was impeached over alleged financial misappropriation.

Members of the parliament were fully present at the sitting at 7:06 am, except the impeached officers.

The former speaker was also suspended for three months while the impeached majority leader was handed an indefinite suspension.

At the end of the sitting, the new Speaker and other members then proceeded to the Government House to intimate the state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, of the changes in the house leadership.
