Just In: There have been gunshots fired at today’s Lagos PDP primaries

by Godwin Akanfe

Gunshots have been fired and teargas deployed as order breaks down at the Lagos PDP gubernatorial primaries which is yet to start at Yard 158, Oregun, Lagos.
Delegates were still coming in, but a large number of area boys had converged at the venue before the violence broke out.
The front-runners in today’s PDP primaries are former minister, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, and a relatively new kid on the block, Jimi Agbaje.
Meanwhile, former Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike has being declared the winner of the Rivers PDP Primaries which took place earlier today in Port Harcourt.
Wike got 1,083 votes while Ebinabo West came in second with 3 votes.
More details to come.
Update: The tear gas was said to have been fired to disperse the area boys who had literally overrun the venue of the primaries. The situation is much calmer now and party leader, Olabode George and his wife reportedly arrived moments ago.
